This progressive course is required for girls who want to participate in the council's Adventures in Canoeing trip to Milton, Florida, in July 2025. Learn the basics of canoeing safety: getting into and out of a canoe, the proper way to paddle, and water safety. Saturday night is an outdoor cooking lesson, and we'll take a trip down Black Creek on Sunday.
The $85 fee includes four meals, snacks, lodging, canoe trip entry fees, and a patch. An adult must accompany girls, and troops should be in the correct girl-to-adult ratio. If there are no adult spaces available, please get in touch with Kyna McCalpin at 601-326-5648 or kmccalpin@gsgms.org to get registered. Chaperones/caregivers will transport the girls to and from the Black Creek destination. If the chaperone/caregiver does not want to take the canoe trip, their fee is only $50. However, they must remain at the site while the girls are on the canoe trip. Your packing list and additional instructions will be sent to the email on file after registration closes.
