Magnolia Super Troop Program

The Magnolia Super Troop Program showcases troops that strive to give girls an extraordinary Girl Scout experience through the efforts of each adult and girl.  Super Troops meet deadlines for registration, use the VTK, manage troop funds responsibly, participate in the Product Program, serve the community and have fun!

The requirements for each category are listed below.  Girl Scout troops who pursue Magnolia Super Troop distinction must complete all requirements in each category.  Girl Scout Troops who are Magnolia Super Troops will be able to enjoy some special perks for their efforts such as

  • Bragging Rights
  • Special Patch for each girl participating
  • Special Pin for registered leaders/co-leaders (up to 4) - additional pins available for purchase
  • Recognition at the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, on social media, in the Council Connection and other communications
  • Early registration for council events (one day early)!
  • Invitation to participate in special events throughout the year
  • $50 gift certificate to GSGMS shops for the troop
BE A STRONG AND SUSTAINABLE TROOP
  • Have room for at least 12 girls in your troop and keep your troop visible to prospective members for registration on our website.
  • Review troop information at the bottom of the "Troops" tab under the Member Profile section of the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK).
  • List and update troop information and submit a troop description to customercare@gsgms.org by September 30th.
  • Elevate the importance of the Girl Scout uniform with all girls having required uniform elements and wearing them while participating in public activities.
BE PREPARED TO LEAD GIRLS
  • Have at least two troop leaders (leader and assistant leader) or the required minimum to meet girl:adult ratios, be registered with current background checks, and have this completed by September 30th.
  • Annually review the most recent versions of Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints. Complete a Volunteer Essentials Webinar every 3 years as a refresher.
  • Login and create a Year Plan using the VTK.
  • Have troop representation for no less than 75% of service unit meetings.
  • Ensure any expired background checks are not lapsed for more than 30 days.
  • Meet with parents/caregivers at the beginning of the year to share the year plan, set expectations, explain how communication will occur, demonstrate how to use VTK, and fill open volunteer positions in the troop.
  • Register at least two Parent Helpers to volunteer with your troop.
DO THE GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
  • As a troop, earn at least three skill badges or complete one Girl Scout Journey.
  • Celebrate your troop's accomplishments and dedication with at least one Girl Scout ceremony (Court of Awards, Investiture or Bridging Ceremony, etc.).
DO SOMETHING FUN
  • Participate in three activities during the year outside of a regular troop meeting.  Examples:  service unit event, council event, summer camp, outing to a park or museum, an overnight, etc.
  • Host at least one family event for the troop to engage the entire family.  Examples:  picnic in the park, skate party, community service project, game night, etc.
DO A GOOD TURN
  • Encourage your troop to help out other Girl Scout troops and/or participate in community service events, a Take Action project, National Stand Beside Her Movement, etc.
  • Submit the collective number of service hours for your troop via online form.
DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!
  • Renew at least 75% of your girls by July 31st.
  • Troops must have at least two leaders registered with a current background check by July 31st.
  • Review Troop Information at the bottom of the "Troops" tab under the Member Profile section of the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK).
  • For Girl Scout Ambassador troops with graduating seniors, 65% of eligible girls must Bridge to adult or become a Lifetime Member by July 31.
BE A GOOD STEWARD AND USE RESOURCES WISELY
  • Submit a complete Troop Finance Report utilizing the VTK Finance Tab by June 30th.
  • Participate in the Fall Product and the Girl Scout Cookie Program, with at least 75% of girls in your troop participating, attending necessary trainings, and having no troop debt.
