Health and Safety Guidelines for Girl Scouts

hands

Dear Girl Scout Troop Leaders and Parents,

In line with the latest guidance from the WHO and CDC, and bearing in mind official guidance around social distancing, GSUSA recommends that Councils immediately suspend all Girl Scout events, consistent with similar bans on gatherings in many cities and states.

Therefore, Girl Scouts of Greater Mississippi will follow these recommendations, effective immediately. All Girl Scout programs and activities will be suspended until mid-April at which time we will reassess. We ask that you postpone all planned travel and to not book any future travel at this time. All employees at our Council offices will be working remotely. We will have more information shortly about the Annual Meeting.

A voicemail left on our phones will create an email. The main office line is 601-326-GIRL (4475). If you need supplies at this time, you can order on-line at girlscoutshop.com. We are monitoring this unprecedented situation closely and are making decisions day by day. We will be following the guidance of public health offices to determine when we will be back working in our Council offices and Girl Scout activities can resume.

Updates will be posted on our web and social media sites. We know that your Girl Scouts feel the uncertainty this time brings. Here are some ways you can discuss what is happening: girlscouts.org/en/raising-girls/happy-and-healthy/happy/coronavirus-and-kids.html. We will post on our website fun and educational resources to keep your girls busy.

As you can imagine, we are doing everything we can to help mitigate the potential impact of these changes and appreciate your continuing support as we navigate this temporary new normal together. My number is 601-326-5656 and my email is btraweek@gsgms.org should you have any additional questions.

Our thoughts are with you each of you, our Girl Scout families. Please be well and have faith that we will be back soon to continue our mission.

Yours in Girl Scouting,

Becky Traweek
